Hunter Schafer Taken Into Police Custody During Protest

Euphoria star Hunter Schafer was a part of a group of protestors who were taken into custody by police on Monday during a demonstration, organized by the activist organization Jewish Voices,  intended to disrupt President Joe Biden‘s appearance on the Late Night with Seth Meyers show.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the protest took place at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, which is the headquarters of NBC television and where the Late Night with Seth Meyers show is taped.

Per the report, who cited a spokesperson for the New York Police Department,  a total of 30 individuals were taken into custody and issued two summonses for trespass and disorderly conduct before they were officially released.

Schafer was confirmed to be among those who were detained, per a Jewish Voices for Peace spokesperson.

An official statement was released by the group – “We commend Hunter Schafer’s commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone,” Jewish Voices for Peace’s communications director Sonya Meyerson-Knox said, per the Hollywood Reporter.

Keanu Reeves Joins ‘Sonic 3’ Cast

Keanu Reeves is joining the cast of the upcoming video game movie franchise ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ which is currently slated to arrive in theaters on December 20th, according to The John Campea Show.

Per the report, Reeves will play Shadow in the new feature.

Paramount is hoping for continued success with the 3rd installment of the franchise as the original film, which arrived in 2020, impressive with $319 million globally at the box office, while the 2nd film, released in 2022, grossed $404 million globally.

Nantucket Film Festival Reveals 2024 Lineup

The 29th edition of the Nantucket Film Festival has released it’s lineup for 2024 and part of the event will honor writer-producer Kerry Ehrin (The Morning Show) as well as Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Roger Ross Williams and showrunner Meredith Scardino (Girls5Eva).

Ehrin will receive the Excellence in Television Writing Award, Williams will receive the Career Achievement in Filmmaking Award, and Scardino will receive the New Voices in Television Writing Award.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 2024 festival is slated to open with Josh Margolin’s ‘Thelma’, before closing with Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui’s Christopher Reeve documentary ‘Super/Man’ as well as Jeff Zimbalist’s documentary ‘Skywalkers: A Love Story’.

Also slated for opening day is a festival screening of ‘Inside Out 2’ which carries on a long-standing tradition for the festival of screening either a Disney or Pixar film.

“This year’s slate of films continues to celebrate bold and independent voices close to home and across the world,” senior programmer Basil Tsiokos and lead programmer Anita Raswant said in an official statement. “We invite our audiences to explore a wide range of work that honors the power of storytelling — and in turn, our shared humanity over the course of our six-day, highly curated festival.”

“Since its inception in 1996, NFF has aimed to foster a space that showcases and celebrates the work of incredible storytellers in film and television, and this year is no exception” Nantucket Film Festival executive director Mystelle Brabbée stated.

“We are thrilled to introduce our curated lineup of films, events, and artists to our audiences on the Island come summer. As captivating as our on-screen experiences are, we are equally excited to highlight the power of storytelling off-screen through our signature programs featuring engaging live discussions and events with acclaimed screenwriters and filmmakers.”

‘CSI: Vegas’ Officially Cancelled

The short-lived excitement over the return of the CSI franchise to CBS has come to an abrupt end as the network has decided not to renew ‘CSI: Vegas’ for a fourth season, according to Deadline.

Now, the stars of the show are sharing their thoughts about the cancellation.

“Each & every person involved with the making of this series brought their A game each & every day,”  CSI and CSI: Vegas star Marg Helgenberger wrote on social media platform Instagram along with a photo of the cast. “It was truly a pleasure & honor to work/play alongside such a fun & talented company of story tellers. Immeasurable thanks & gratitude to all for making this experience such a memorable ride. And to all the fans; we did it all for you.”

Lex Medlin, who joined the series in the 2nd season, also took to Instagram to comment.

“I am going to miss this cast and crew so very much” Medlin wrote. “Most of all I’ll miss Beau. He was so fun to play. Thanks all for the support. On to the next adventure.”
